Interview with Indigenous Leader Nemonte Nenquimo
Nemonte Nenquimo is an Indigenous Waorani leader from the Ecuadorian Amazon and a renowned defender of the rights, territory, culture, and spirituality of Indigenous peoples. She is a co-founder of the Ceibo Alliance and has led significant struggles against oil extraction in the rainforest. Nemonte first came to know Takiwasi in May 2024, when she participated in a seminar organized in collaboration with the Ceibo Alliance and Amazon Frontlines, aimed at a group of 12 Indigenous women leaders. Following this initial experience, she decided to return to Takiwasi to deepen her personal process with medicinal plants.

Visit of the Wampis Nation Delegation
During the first week of August, we had the honor of receiving an official visit at Takiwasi from a delegation of the Autonomous Territorial Government of the Wampis Nation (GTANW). We were accompanied by Teófilo Kukush Pati, President of the GTANW; Shampiom Noningo Sesen, Technical Secretary; and Patricio Chumpi Serecam, Director of Intercultural Health. During the meeting, we discussed ways to strengthen this strategic alliance in order to promote joint initiatives for sustainable development, intercultural health, and the reinforcement of the Wampis territory's autonomy.

Webinar: Purgahuasca, from the initiation ritual to therapeutic applications
Inspired by the Awajún traditional medicine, the ritual ceremony of purgahuasca has been incorporated since 1998 in the protocol for the treatment of addiction at Takiwasi.
