Maestro Curandero Juan Flores

The directors of the Takiwasi Center express their deep sorrow for the passing of master healer Juan Flores, which occurred on Saturday, October 11, 2025.

We pay tribute to the Sheripiari, Ashaninka healer, bearer of the gift of teaching and healing through Amazonian plants. Don Juan Flores always stood out as a true master, and from Takiwasi we sent him several people interested in learning about traditional medicine so that he could introduce them to his way and practice of ancestral Amazonian healing.

Due to his great qualities as a healer, he was invited on numerous occasions to Takiwasi, where he shared his wisdom and skills in the care of patients struggling with addiction, as well as with participants in dietas and seminars. In 2001, Juan Flores was elected President of the Healers of Peru during the International Meeting of Traditional Ayahuasca Doctors held in Tarapoto, an event organized by Takiwasi. From that gathering emerged the Tarapoto Declaration, a document written with the participation of spiritual leaders and healers from Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Gabon, and Peru.

We express our condolences to his family and disciples for this irreparable loss, with the confidence that he now rests in the peace of the Lord. His legacy will live on in all those who truly recognized and appreciated his gift for teaching.

Our eternal gratitude for having taught us his ícaros, allowing us to use them in the ayahuasca ceremonies at Takiwasi. His ícaros and sopladas will remain alive within us as testimony and legacy of his passage through our institution, and his spirit will be felt each time he is invoked in healing sessions.

May Master Juan Flores rest in peace.
