4th Conference on Dialogues Between Medicines

18/05/2026
IV Jornada de Diálogos entre Medicinas

The GASS Association, in collaboration with the Takiwasi Center, is organizing the 4th Conference on Dialogues Between Medicines, with a series of lectures in Spanish dedicated this year to the theme: “Spiritual Illnesses, Traditional Medicines and Christianity.”

The event will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, in the city of Barcelona, and will bring together specialists, therapists, researchers, and people interested in the dialogue between spirituality, traditional medicines, and academic knowledge.

The initiative is promoted by Eduard Casas Bertet, social educator and president of the Associated Group for Health Services (GASS Association), with the purpose of creating a space for reflection and interdisciplinary exchange on health, the spiritual dimension of suffering, and the different forms of therapeutic and religious accompaniment.

Foundations and Purpose of the Meeting
The recognition of the human soul within medicine is not new, yet it has largely been marginalized by science and modern medicine, despite a few remarkable exceptions. For this reason, it is considered necessary to revalue an integral approach to the roots of human health from all the perspectives through which it has developed throughout history.

Today in the Western world, it is more necessary than ever to reconnect with those roots that move away from mechanistic thinking and the uncertain drift in which we live. Recovering the essence of traditions in which life, truth, and the path become clinical guidance is considered a key element of health. Traditional medicines around the world — including Western medicine in its origins — have always been grounded in both the material and immaterial dimensions of the human person.

Takiwasi’s Contributions to the Meeting
The Takiwasi Center will contribute its clinical and therapeutic experience in addressing the spiritual dimension of health through two presentations:

1) “De la muerte a la vida: Siguiendo los pasos de sanación del paciente Martin” (From Death to Life: following the healing path of patient Martin), an in-person presentation by Verónika Kavenska, PhD in Clinical Psychology and Therapeutic Coordinator at Takiwasi.
2) “Los lobos disfrazados de ovejas: los malos espíritus en la medicina tradicional amazónica” (Wolves Disguised as Sheep: evil spirits in traditional Amazonian medicine), an online presentation by Thibault Luycx, member of the Takiwasi therapeutic team and author of the book "El discernimiento de los espíritus" (The Discernment of Spirits).

Event Open to the Interested Public
The meeting will also feature the participation of Father Javier Luzón, renowned expert on Hildegard of Bingen and exorcist for the dioceses of Córdoba and Madrid between 1995 and 2015, as well as psychologist Víctor Lucia, and Dr. Jordi Pigem, internationally recognized philosopher and distinguished contemporary thinker.

We warmly encourage all those who are able to attend in person to register and participate in this unique space for dialogue and exchange, and to help spread this initiative among all those who may be interested.
