These Traumas That Possess Us: Understanding to Heal

The book « Ces traumas qui nous possèdent. Comprendre pour guérir. Addictions, voix intérieures, esprits parasites… » (These Traumas That Possess Us: Understanding to Heal. Addictions, Inner Voices, Parasitic Spirits...), by Jean-Charles Bouchoux—psychoanalyst, writer, and hypnotherapist—has just been published in France.

Among its various contributions, the work includes elements drawn from a written interview with Dr. Jacques Mabit, founder and president of the Takiwasi Center.

The author has prepared a presentation on Dr. Jacques’ contributions. We are pleased to share this presentation below.

We are also sharing the new article, "Summary of the Differential Diagnosis Between Perceptual Disorders and Spiritual Infestations", which further develops the content of the interview and complements the previously published article, "Perception disorders and relationship to the invisible world".

New Testimonial About the Retreat / Diet with Master Plants

Testimonial by Cécile D., France, 04/05/26 :

"Until that moment, I had been functioning within a system mainly dedicated to survival, guided by my fears. My intention for the diet was to believe less in those fears and allow myself to live my life more fully, with confidence.

I felt in harmony with everything that life brought me throughout the entire process. I appreciated everything, even the less comfortable parts of the experience.

I felt completely safe surrendering to the process, thanks to a rigorous and highly professional framework, with therapists of great human qualities, warm, attentive, and at the same time able to leave each person responsible for their own life.

Since the end of the process at the center, I have felt light and joyful most of the time. Simply, I am living."

Dying to Be Reborn: A Path of Healing at Takiwasi

Testimony of Hope Universe, a 34-year-old French woman, about her outpatient treatment at Takiwasi.

"I am someone who believes that anything is possible, who has always had hope, faith in humanity, and who loves unconditionally. But I was also deeply uncomfortable in my own skin, tormented by a past that endlessly replayed in my mind, trapped by traumatic experiences that left me unable to manage my emotions and my self-destructive impulses, which also prevented me from sleeping at night. I had reached a point where I was afraid to sleep.

I spent most of my life surviving, and surviving is not truly living. I wanted to get better, but I did not know how.

Ayahuasca came to me when I had begun imagining the end of my life. I still cannot explain what happened that night. Soon afterward, I started researching and understood that this plant was going to save me. When I searched for a place where I could experience it, I came across Takiwasi’s website.

Takiwasi had become my symbol of hope. During those two months, I reconciled with my inner child, my femininity, my mother, my sexuality, men, and above all with life and death. In a way, I believe I died in order to be reborn.

I know I have come a long way and that my journey is still ongoing, so I intend to continue working on myself. But I feel confident and at peace about what the universe and the future hold for me."

Therapeutic Seminar for Women Struggling with Addiction

In response to the many requests received from women seeking access to a specialized therapeutic process, we are pleased to announce the Second Edition of the Seminar for Women Struggling with Addiction, which will take place at Takiwasi in November 2026.

We propose a therapeutic process specifically designed for women facing addiction and dependency issues. The program includes ritualized work with medicinal plants.

The so-called “master plants” of the traditional Peruvian Amazonian medicine, used within a therapeutic framework, support the release of emotional blockages, promote the restoration of vital energy, and the awakening of inner spiritual resources. This process of self-exploration is carried out in a safe and controlled environment, with continuous medical and psychotherapeutic support.

For more information and to begin the registration process, please send an email to psychotherapist María Virginia Erazo: marivir@takiwasi.com

A Partnership for the Conservation of the Cordillera Escalera

On June 1st, a Conservation Agreement was signed between the Takiwasi Center, the Regional Environmental Authority of the Regional Government of San Martín, and the Management of the Cordillera Escalera Regional Conservation Area.

This new agreement strengthens Takiwasi’s commitment to protecting more than 50 hectares of Amazon rainforest located in the upper Shilcayo River basin.

The Wampís Nation and the Takiwasi Center Strengthen Their Alliance

In April, we visited several initiatives and community enterprises promoted by our partner, the Autonomous Territorial Government of the Wampís Nation, aimed at fostering the sustainable development of its people and the conservation of its territory and biodiversity. These initiatives include banana flour production and the implementation of an aguaje processing plant.

Through our Natural Products Laboratory, we continue to strengthen actions that promote sustainable opportunities, enhance the value of ancestral knowledge, and protect the natural wealth of the Amazon rainforest.

4th Conference on Dialogues Between Medicines

The GASS Association and the Takiwasi Center are organizing the 4th Conference on Dialogues Between Medicines, with a series of lectures in Spanish dedicated to the theme: “Spiritual Illnesses, Traditional Medicines and Christianity.”

The event will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, in Barcelona, Spain.

It will bring together specialists, therapists, researchers, and people interested in the dialogue between spirituality, traditional medicines, and academic knowledge.

Takiwasi will contribute its clinical and therapeutic experience in addressing the spiritual dimension of health through two presentations by Verónika Kavenska, PhD in Clinical Psychology and Therapeutic Coordinator, and Thibault Luycx, member of the therapeutic team.

We warmly encourage all those who are able to attend in person to register and participate in this unique space for dialogue and exchange, and to help spread this initiative among all those who may be interested.
