"Before participating in the Takiwasi process, my personal situation was very unpleasant. I was burned out, depressed, unhappy, and stuck in patterns of people-pleasing. I lived in fantasies, struggled with self-harm, obsession, irrational thoughts, codependency, fear, and constant nervousness. I had been an alcoholic and drug user for over 20 years, with a porn addiction, workaholism, and smoking habits.
At Takiwasi I have participated in two dietas, in 2019 and 2026. The dietas have been deeply beneficial for me. I can feel, almost in real time, how my traumas and unresolved conflicts try to surface and leave my body and mind. I lose the desire for my addictions. I feel calmer and stronger. The sense of ease in my body and mind gives me space to integrate wisdom from books, from therapy, and from people around me. It allows me to see things from a different perspective. One of the greatest changes, which came spontaneously, is that I completely lost my workaholism.

Therapeutic Seminar for Women Struggling with Addiction
In response to the many requests received from women seeking access to a specialized therapeutic process, we are pleased to announce the Second Edition of the Seminar for Women Struggling with Addiction, which will take place at Takiwasi in November 2026.
We propose a therapeutic process specifically designed for women facing addiction and dependency issues. The program includes ritualized work with the so-called “master plants” of the traditional Peruvian Amazonian medicine, used within a therapeutic framework to support the release of emotional blockages, the restoration of vital energy, and the awakening of inner spiritual resources. This process of self-exploration is carried out in a safe and controlled environment, with continuous medical and psychotherapeutic support.

Takiwasi’s Contributions to the World Ayahuasca Forum 2026
We are pleased to share that our research manager, Matteo Politi, together with several collaborating researchers, will participate in the upcoming World Ayahuasca Forum 2026, organized by ICEERS in Girona, Spain, from September 9 to 13.
Several presentations connected to Takiwasi’s therapeutic experience and practices have been accepted into the official program. From different perspectives, these presentations will address the use of Amazonian medicinal plants, vegetalismo, and their integration with contemporary mental health approaches.

4th Conference on Dialogues Between Medicines
The GASS Association, in collaboration with the Takiwasi Center, is organizing the 4th Conference on Dialogues Between Medicines, with a series of lectures in Spanish dedicated this year to the theme: “Spiritual Illnesses, Traditional Medicines and Christianity.” The event will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, in the city of Barcelona, and will bring together specialists, therapists, researchers, and people interested in the dialogue between spirituality, traditional medicines, and academic knowledge.
The initiative is promoted by Eduard Casas Bertet, social educator and president of the GASS Association. The Takiwasi Center will contribute its clinical and therapeutic experience in addressing the spiritual dimension of health through two presentations by Verónika Kavenska, PhD in Clinical Psychology and Therapeutic Coordinator, and Thibault Luycx, member of the therapeutic team.
We warmly encourage all those who are able to attend in person to register and participate in this unique space for dialogue and exchange, and to help spread this initiative among all those who may be interested.

Webinar: The Labyrinth of Ayahuasca
We share the video of our recent webinar in Spanish with Manuel Almendro, PhD in Psychology, clinical psychologist, member of the European Federation of Psychology Association, and director of the Oxígeme Center.
The starting point of the conversation was the book The Labyrinth of Ayahuasca, in which Dr. Almendro synthesizes forty years of coexistence and scientific research with healers, medicine men, and shamans from the Peruvian Amazon rainforest and the Mazatec highlands of Mexico.

Training in the Takiwasi Therapeutic Model – 2026
Only a few spots remain for the 5th edition of the Training in the Takiwasi Therapeutic Model, which will take place in Spanish from September 28 to October 10, 2026. This training includes resources from Amazonian Traditional Medicine and experiential workshops aimed at personal experience, as well as theoretical talks and seminars, offering a balanced and enriching experience on multiple levels.
