Recognition for the 30 years of the Takiwasi Center

The Takiwasi Center has received the diploma of merit and the civic medal of the city of Tarapoto in recognition of its 30 years of activities that have allowed the institution to become a national and international benchmark in the treatment of addictions and mental health using an innovative combination of traditional knowledge and modern medicine.

This recognition was granted on August 19, within the framework of the celebrations for the anniversary of the city of Tarapoto, an event in which a posthumous tribute to merit was also paid to Dr. Rosa Giove for her outstanding work in defending, preserving and integrating traditional Amazonian medicine into the public health system.

Participation of Takiwasi Laboratory in the ExpoAmazónica

Through its Natural Products Laboratory, this August the Takiwasi Center has participated in several regional and national events, publicizing its natural products made from medicinal plants.

Takiwasi has participated in the ExpoAmazónica, the most important fair of the Peruvian Amazon, which took place from August 18 to 21 in the city of Chachapoyas. Takiwasi products were also present at the fair for the 240th anniversary of the city of Tarapoto and at the Art, Craft and Culture Fair to celebrate the 30th anniversary of La Patarashca Restaurant in Tarapoto.

The Takiwasi Laboratory works in partnership with the indigenous communities of the San Martín region to promote the generation of added value in the sustainable use of Amazonian biodiversity resources, as a strategy to combine environmental conservation and inclusive development of the communities that are our main allies. Testimony of a participant in the dieta of teacher plants

Testimony about the experience with the dieta of teacher plants by Eduardo Araya, psychologist, sketcher and photographer, who participated in his first plants dieta in Takiwasi six years ago. Becoming aware and abandoning a dependence on alcohol and marijuana, healing different aspects related to childhood, reconnecting with his artistic side and healing the male lineage are some of the benefits obtained by Eduardo through working with master plants and psychological accompaniment.

Ayahuasca: visions of jungle medicine

TedX conference about the visions of ayahuasca by Adam Oliver Brown, a member of the television crew who came to Takiwasi in 2010 to film a documentary with renowned psychiatrist and addiction specialist Gabor Maté, entitled “The Jungle Prescription”.

Through the story of his experience taking the potent psychedelic brew Ayahuasca with shamans in the jungles of Peru, Adam Brown will illustrate the importance of nature conservation for a bright and prosperous future.
