On February 9, 10 and 11, 2024, the First International Meeting of Bearers of Ancestral Knowledge in the Context of Latin America and the Caribbean was held in Tiwanaku, organized by our friend the Bolivian empirical botanist and healer Carlos Prado Mendoza, with the aim of recovering ancestral wisdom from Abya Yala (The Americas) in matters of governance, health and food. Takiwasi was represented by the psychologist Tito Flores, a member of the therapeutic team, and our close friends, the Bolivian priest and healer Rosendo Gualinga and the psychologist Eduardo Araya from Santiago, Chile.

My encounter with Taita Querubin Queta

The Colombian Taita Querubín Queta died on February 3, 2024 at the age of 110. Of the Kofan ethnic group, he has been a notable indigenous leader and prominent shaman, recognized and highly respected by his Colombian peers from different indigenous groups.

Dr. Jacques Mabit tells us about his encounter with Taita Querubin, when in August 2010, he participated with his wife Rosa Giove at the II Meeting of Indigenous Cultures in the city of Pasto, Nariño, Colombia. Rosa gave a conference on “The Human and the Cosmos” that has been highly applauded, and she participated in a meeting of Healing Women. On this trip, Jacques was invited to participate in the General Assembly of the UMIYAC in Mocoa, by Taita Humberto Piaguaje, of the Siona ethnic group and Senior Councilor of the UMIYAC. He was the only non-indigenous person to have the privilege of attending this meeting due to the closeness he had with Master Humberto. Humberto Piaguaje had come to Takiwasi three times, with his wife, where he had led ayahuasca sessions, showing great expertise and mastery of his medical art.

Amazonian Master Plants in Containment Mode

The intake of master plants in a containment mode is a very effective process if done correctly and provides a perennial structural change. It is useless or even dangerous if it is not done well or the rules are not respected (dose, diet, care...). It allows having a “pool” of specific psychotherapeutic assistants for rehabilitation work simultaneously on a physical, psychoemotional and spiritual level… the contents that rise to the surface (the experiences during the isolation time in the jungle, dreams, memories, grief and wounds) manifest with great lucidity and are highly significant in the process of addiction treatment and human development.

"Amazonian Master Plants in Containment Mode: a subtle and active company in the process of change". Author: Uriel J. López Legaria. Full article published in the web page of Takiwasi.
