The Labyrinth of Ayahuasca

Recent publication of the English version of the book "The Labyrinth of Ayahuasca", by Manuel Almendro. In Cambridge Scholars Publishing. Available from July 1, 2023.

This book offers unique insights. Teachings from the Asháninka, Mazatec, Cocama, and the Navajo are recounted, which the author had the fortune to receive while spending extended periods with them. A unique and first-hand perspective of the world of Traditional Indigenous Medicine (TIM) and ayahuasca, and its complex world of plants, purging, and isolation is presented. The importance of spirituality and the need to deal with our past traumas are explored. The most representative authors in fields related to TIM and psychedelics are reviewed, and so are others, relatively unknown but very relevant. Innovative procedures in psychology and medicine are assessed. The School of Psychotherapy, Oxígeme, is also presented. The book analyses the abuse of sacred substances and psychedelic culture, potential positive discoveries, and disturbing contradictions and dangers. This book would appeal to readers ranging from the general public interested in the indigenous worlds, psychology, and spirituality, to more specialized audiences in the fields of anthropology, psychology, medical doctors, and health professionals in general

Canta la Ayahuasca - Healing Ikaros

Ikaros are essential elements of Traditional Amazonian Medicine and constitute a source of cultural resistance by preserving both linguistic elements and knowledge related to Amazonian world-view and medicinal resources, which go back in time to the original cultures. They are the essential means to transmit wisdom and healing practices. This concept led us to call our center "Takiwasi" that in Quechua means "the house that sings" or "the house of song", to honor this tradition.

On our website we offer for sale the ikaros sung by the healers of Takiwasi. The revenues generated from the sale of these products is entirely destined to support Takiwasi in the treatment and rehabilitation of people with limited economic resources who suffer from drug addiction.

Takiwasi Center Online Courses

We want to invite you to enroll in our online courses:

- Introducción al modelo terapéutico Takiwasi: 11 pre-registered classes taught in Spanish by the therapeutic team of the Takiwasi Center. Topics such as Traditional Amazonian Medicine are addressed, including the presentation of specific techniques such as plant baths and purges, and the application of Western psychological approaches in the treatment of addictions, such as existential psychotherapies and the analysis of trans-generational inheritances.

- Coherencias entre la iniciación cristiana y la iniciación amazónica: taught in Spanish by Dr. Jacques Mabit, course based on 5 pre-registered videos. The experience of the Takiwasi Center shows us that there are numerous and surprising points of coherence and convergence between the Christian faith and Amazonian shamanism (when correctly understood and practiced). This course attempts to highlight the relevance of bringing these two paths of knowledge closer together and articulating them appropriately in favor of opening new paths for the healing of the body, mind and spirit.
